Adventure Philosophy

Maverick Motorcycle Adventures was developed to encourage adventurous individuals to discover Colorado’s mountain culture as it was shown to me.
Mark Bryant
Around the age of 5, my unconventional exploration of Colorado was fueled through riding a Yamaha 80 motorcycle over backcountry roads. Unconcerned where roads would eventually lead, Dad and Mom led the way.

We left our bikes to explore abandoned structures discovering old boots, bottles and mining tools. Fellow adventurers were rarely encountered. When we did, a friendly rapport was instant. Discovering unknown places matched the thrill of the journey. Melting snow banks and alpine lakes create small trickles that increase several miles downstream becoming sources of fishing holes and trout for dinner. We cooked over a campfire and slept in canvas tents. Stars are brilliant at 10,000 ft. Streams supplied comforting sounds. Campfire conversations were special for our family. Appreciation for what we passed was discussed following each adventure.

We were encouraged, ”pay attention boys, you may never pass this way again”.

Backcountry adventures eventually became more social and intense. Riding got faster and more technical. Campfires became places where friends told stories, laughed and became men.

At age 25, my 500XT/Enduro was replaced with a Ninja 600R. Pushing a bike to its performance limits is definitely thrilling.  A bond developed with a close group of riders who loved going fast. We preferred late night runs on desolate highways. Long rides revealed new aspects of motorcycle adventures. Stopping in small towns reminds me of the “old west”. Setting your helmet on a café counter or bar conjures inquiries of where you’re going and where you’ve been. With very little effort, locals will tell you a story of hidden back roads or special ways to the next town.

Today, my passion is jumping on a bike with fellow riders having no particular agenda other than enjoying the run and returning home safely.  Backcountry adventures continue leading me to places where stories are told and a rider’s senses become fully engaged.
